Determining The Proper Length Golf Club For You

There are many different theories on how to come up with the proper length golf club.  There seems to be no single accepted standard way to determine the correct golf club length for an individual.  Here are a few of the ways the proper length golf club are sometimes found.
  • By taking two measurements;  overall height, and wrist to floor  length.
  • By taking a single wrist to floor measurement.
  • By swinging different length clubs to see which one feels best.
  • By simply going off of your overall height.

I recommend you blend the first and third option together in order to come up with the proper length golf club for yourself.

The first thing to do when looking for your proper length golf club is measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.  Have someone help you with this because it is very hard to get an accurate measurement by yourself. 

Begin by standing on a hard surface, not on carpeting.  Stand up straight but relaxed with your arms hanging at your side.  You should be wearing regular street shoes.  Have someone measure from the floor to the main crease of your wrist on the hand you wear your golf glove on.  Write this number down.

Now, cross reference this number with your height on the table below:
